Learning to Trust Yourself Again

Hey Boo!

One of the most important things trauma steals isn’t just our peace- it steals our trust in ourselves. After enough criticism, manipulation, betrayal, or disappointment, we begin to question everything.

Was I overreacting?

Did I misunderstand?

Am I too sensitive?

Over time, we stop listening to our intuition and start looking outside ourselves for permission, validation, and certainty. But here’s what I’ve learned:

My intuition wasn’t broken. It was stifled. It was buried.

When you’ve spent years being told your feelings are wrong or your experiences didn’t happen the way you remember them, self-doubt becomes survival. You learn to silence yourself because it feels safer to trust an outside source.

Healing changes that.

Learning to trust yourself again isn’t about suddenly becoming fearless. It’s about making one small promise to yourself- and keeping it. It’s listening when your body feels tense around someone. It’s honoring your need for rest without apologizing. It’s saying ‘no’ even when guilt whispers ‘yes’. It’s believing yourself when something doesn’t feel right.

Every time you keep one of those promises, you rebuild self-trust.

Little by little. Day by day.

Eventually, you stop asking everyone else what you should do because your own voice becomes familiar again. The beautiful thing about self-trust is that it creates peace. You no longer have to analyze every conversation, you don’t have to chase closure from people who cannot give it. You don’t have to convince yourself to ignore red flags. You simply know.

That quiet knowing is one of the greatest gifts healing offers. Today, I want you to remember this:

You have survived things that tried to disconnect you from yourself. And yet…

Here you are.

Healing. Growing. Learning to hear your own voice again.

Trust doesn’t begin with other people. It begins the moment you decide your own inner wisdom deserves to be heard.

That is reclamation.

Til Next Time.
