The Ultimate Success Formula

Hey Boo!

Do you know what it takes to be successful?

I’m sure that if you ask around, you will find different definitions of success and different answers to the formula of success. The truth is, success leaves clues and you can achieve success in the area you desire by observing the common qualities and principles. They are simple and considered to be common sense but many people simply do not follow them.

Let me share with you one of my favorite quotes:

“There are no secrets to success. It is the results of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” -Colin Powell

As stated in that quote, there are three key factors to achieve massive success in your life:

  1. Preparation

You don’t have to wait for everything to be perfect. Start with the first step and keep moving. Success doesn’t happen overnight. Prepare, prepare, prepare. You must be ready to receive the success you desire. Set your sight to the destination that you want to achieve, then work and prepare for the moment when the opportunity knocks your door. As one of my mentors once said to me, “it’s better to be prepared and not have the opportunity than to have the opportunity and not be prepared.”

  1. Hard Work

Success needs hard work. Don’t listen to these ‘get rich quick’ schemes. You need to build your character and work hard on yourself and your business to achieve greatness. By ‘hard work’ what I mean is consistent, intentional work. Do the right things and do them in the right way. Don’t procrastinate. Take bold actions. Work with determination to craft your legacy.

  1. Learning from failure

Successful people do not see failures as failures. They see them as important learning lessons. Lessons that are capable of giving them insights to prevent such mistakes from happening again. By adopting this mindset of turning each failure into a learning lesson or opportunity, you can never fail until you yourself quit.

It is also important to focus on your evolution and don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Comparison is the thief of joy and once you try to do things like someone else instead of yourself, you cheat yourself and the world out of a unique experience.

And I will end this blog with another great quote: “Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.” -Winston Churchill

How to Master the Art of Gratitude to Achieve Success.

Hey Boo!

Gratitude.

I’m sure you have heard this word a million times before and you know that it simply means a feeling of thankfulness and appreciation. Gratitude may seem like an abstract or pointless concept to some, but the act of showing gratitude is actually rather simple and effective to implement. Knowing the power and potential of showing gratitude and subsequently applying it accordingly can be the single most decisive factor in ensuring better degrees of success for yourself.

Let’s dwell a little on exactly what gratitude can do for you and subsequently your success. Gratitude instills a positive feeling in you and the people you show it to. It alters your perspective of negative feelings, thoughts, or beliefs you may have of yourself or others by alerting these feelings, thoughts and beliefs to the things you are grateful for. Gratitude raises your awareness and focus and it can inspire you to achieve better for yourself and the people around you.

Although there are numerous other benefits to showing authentic gratitude, there are many people who neglect to shower themselves or the people around them with it. Instead, they put themselves and others down through criticism and condemnation.

Quick Gratitude Check

Answer the questions below to boost your level of gratitude:

  1.  Are there obstacles that are holding you back from showing gratitude to yourself and to others? If so, write them down.
  1. How can you overcome these obstacles?
  1. How actions can you take to unleash an onslaught of gratitude to yourself and to others?

The ‘obstacles’ mentioned above are typically negative thoughts, emotions and beliefs that you may possess that are not only hindering you from showing gratitude but they are likely also hindering you from success.

I use a process to overcome negative thoughts and feelings that I’ll refer to as Question, Debunk, Reaffirm. (I don’t know if it has an official name and I’m not trying to take credit for creating it. I may have read it in a CBT workbook. But it works!) First, I question the validity of the negative thought. Then I debunk the myth or limiting belief responsible for that thought. Next, I reaffirm with a positive new belief to replace the negative one.  Questioning the validity (and significance) of your negative thoughts and feelings instead of giving way to them often cause us to realize that we may have been getting all worked up for nothing. Overcoming mental obstacles is a very important topic, however, the chief aim of this blog is to show you the importance of showing gratitude and how you can go about doing it. As such, I will not touch in depth about how to overcome these negative thoughts, emotions and beliefs. But if you would like to find out more, please reach out to me directly. Follow Glow with Mimi on Facebook or join the Resilient Brave Beings private Facebook group.

Now that you are clearer about the benefits of gratitude, let’s first talk about how you can start showing gratitude to yourself. To start doing this, you must first be appreciative of all your achievements – big or small – that you have experienced so far in your life. Ask yourself: when was the last time you actually rewarded yourself for those achievements? If you have constantly been doing so, then good for you and keep it up. If not, then it’s about time you start indulging or pampering yourself with some simple or extravagant (whichever is appropriate) rewards for all your past achievements and future ones.

Next be appreciative of the things you have – your job, home, wealth, health, family, food and surroundings. I know it can be rather impossible to directly show gratitude to these things but no worries. You can list these things in a notebook or journal, and maybe even write down thank you notes for item to express your gratitude. Keep referring to this list when you’re feeling sad or depressed and you can instantly feel a surge of happiness or positive emotions.

So… we’ve covered how you can show gratitude to yourself and the things around you. Now I will touch on how you can show gratitude to the people around you. There are many ways you can express your gratitude to the people around you but I will only list the few I feel are important and simple to perform. Feel free to add your own and implement them as you see fit.

  1. Instead of putting down, insulting and complaining about the people around or working under you, try complementing, praising and appreciating them for all they have done for your well-being and your achievements. By doing this, you gain their respect and trust and they are more likely to continually assist you to achieve better.
  1.  Make a thank you list of all the people you are grateful for and constantly refer to this list to give yourself a better and greater feeling.
  1. Give a simple verbal thank you, note of appreciation or even a thank you e-mail to express your gratitude to the people who have assisted you in achievements.
  1. Shower the people you are grateful for with small or big cards, gifts, presents or rewards to clearly show them how much you appreciate them.
  1. Or simply provide the people around you with gifts that cannot be bought with cash like your valuable time, your sacrifice or something that is of utmost importance to you.

Gratitude.  Always bear in mind that when you show gratitude to yourself, the things and the people around you, you will definitely hold the key to unlocking your personal growth and ultimately your success.

That’s all I have for you until next Thursday. In the meantime, be authentic, be grateful, and always- keep Glowing…

Find your Focus

Hello beautiful souls! 💖

Have you ever experienced an obstacle or road block while trying to accomplish a goal? I think we all have. As we set out to accomplish goals in our lives it’s commonplace to encounter an obstacle here and there. But sometimes the discouragement and frustration caused by those obstacles can throw us off track and cause us to lose focus.

When we experience the feelings of discouragement and frustration, it is important not to give way to those emotions. We must only acknowledge them and allow them to pass. Once you let the negative feelings pass you must refocus and continue to apply effort. Know with a certainty that success is always on the other side of effort. It’s only a matter of time.

If you are having trouble finding your focus after a setback or obstacle, here are some helpful tips to find your focus and get your mind back onto your goals!

1. Think Positive

You may be thinking ‘easier said than done’, right? But in this context what I mean by ‘be positive’ is don’t quit mentally. Believe in yourself and know that there is a solution to every single problem you face. Process the obstacle as a learning experience and look for the good in it. Move forward knowing that there are better days ahead!

2. Keep A Clear, Open Mind

Always be ready to receive new ideas. Focus and concentrate. Think in a wide scale manner and always be open to new options that eliminate your obstacle. Brainstorming with peers, coworkers, or a coach is a great way to stir up some new ideas as well as refocus.

Meditation is a wonderful way to regain focus. When you meditate, you still the mind and get rid of excess noise. Excess noise is anything that distracts you from your current goal. It could be day to day nuances or huge life events that present themselves at the most inconvenient times. Either way, meditation can help you slow down your thoughts and reign in the ego. When the ego is subdued it is easier to have positive thoughts. Those positive thoughts create more positive thoughts. And with the increase of positive thoughts you begin to feel happy, relaxed, and full of gratitude. This is the best state of mind for goal setting and focus.

3. Persist and Persevere

Be sure to exhaust every possibility. Do not be afraid of trial and error. Exploring every option and aspect will increase knowledge and experience in your desired area. This knowledge, in turn will lead you to accomplish your goal with continued effort. Remember: Success is always on the other side of effort.

4. Simulate

Try to picture in your head a possible solution to help overcome and/or solve the problem you are having and return your focus to your goal.

Visualization is a really good way to simulate. Visualization is powerful because the subconscious mind doesn’t distinguish your concentrated thoughts from your reality. With diligence, your mind will accept your visualizations and work to create the reality that you visualize.

How to Visualize

Relax. Close your eyes and try to see as many accurate details as you can. For example, if you want a car, visualize the make, model, color, year, and interior of the car you want. If you can, go a bit further and imagine the fresh car smell and feel yourself sitting in the driver seat. When you think often of a thing your brain creates it. So why not think of positive things that you’d like to create? When you visualize, you can literally see it happening!

5. Ask for Help

If all fails, get assistance from others you know who are more knowledgeable on the work being done. Even if their suggestions are not the exact ones you were hoping to hear, they may trigger some new ideas and ways for you to refocus, set your goals, and find the solution to your problem.

You got this!

Until next time, beautiful souls! 💖

The Ultimate Goal

Hello beautiful souls 💖

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately in regards to my goals. As I grow and evolve, I find it imperative to not only identify my desires, but to set a plan in motion to obtain the things that I desire.

So, I asked myself what my goals are and even what my ultimate goal is. This is what I came up with:

The ultimate goal for me is to feel high without stimulants. To “get high” at will. I’d like to achieve a state of elevation and remain there. Additionally, I want to open and balance my crown Chakra and experience nirvana. For a moment I questioned myself. I wondered if my ultimate goal was perhaps a bit lofty. After some thought I decided that I’d rather live my life trying to obtain it than to prematurely count myself out.

I then formulated a plan to discover and experience my own bliss. I found that the key to nirvana for me is expansion. In order to expand, I must dare to step out of the predictable and the ordinary, and take that leap of faith into the exciting, creative, bold…intoxicating even!

I cannot settle for a dull existence. I will not resign to working a job that I absolutely hate just to pay my bills. Although I know I have to make a living, I will make the time to build the life that I want. The point of this human experience is to bound boldly and fearlessly out of mediocrity and explore the possibilities of life. And then take those possibilities and make them realities.. A reality where I love and live without limits and encourage others to do the same.

My goal is to be worry free- to be fearless. To appreciate life..to be grateful for who I am and what I have.. to spread love, passion, fire…To lose control sometimes and not always go with the safest choice. Not to be irresponsible or wreckless- but to be okay with not knowing how every day will end because somehow I know that life will be beautiful and superb. That is my ultimate goal.

And that is my hope and dream for you as well. For you to achieve your ultimate goal. There is room and time and space for each and every one of us to experience our own nirvana. Complete and utter bliss. We just have to dare to step put of our comfort zones.

I am stepping out. Who’s coming with me? 😉

Until next time beautiful souls 💖

Gratitude

I’ve been on a journey for the last two months. I’m all about self improvement and being positive, but I had been having a hard time remaining in a positive state…until now. (This is my disclaimer: this journey is not for the faint of heart. ) It isn’t a magic remedy. It does take some work. But I kid you not when I say that this has been the best two months of my life! ‘What is this journey?‘ You ask?? Well, it’s two things that go hand in hand: Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Law of Attraction (LOA) .

To be honest, I heard about the law of attraction several years ago. I’m only exercising it now because; well, quite frankly, I was too skeptical and close-minded to try it. But on my niece’s birthday (also New Year’s Eve) I received a visit that basically changed my life. My cousin, whom I will lovingly refer to as Miss Blue, came over and she was absolutely radiant! Don’t get me wrong; she’s a beautiful person, but there was something different about her. She exuded such a positive energy that I thought to myself; I want what she has! And she, being the person that she is; let me in on her secret. She herself had been on this journey for over a month. She told me that she had been practicing LOA and that it was really quite simple.

I listened intently as she told me how simple it was and that there were YouTube videos all about it. So it doesn’t cost you a dime to try! 🙂

And for the most part, it is simple. When I issued my disclaimer; I simply wanted to make my readers aware that this may not happen for you overnight. There are a few things that you should know.

  1. You must be willing to honestly evaluate yourself.
  2. You have to recondition and reprogram years worth of beliefs.
  3. You have to be consistent!
  4. Life still happens, but you’ll be more prepared for it.
  5. You must have gratitude!!

If you are willing to do and accept those things, then you are already well on your way to greatness.

The first week was touch and go for me. I found myself complaining about random things and then remembering that I wanted something different for my life and going back to gratitude. Gratitude is essential in both NLP and LOA.

After the first week, I began to immerse myself in as much positivity as I could find. I watched YouTube videos – my favorite is “Learn How to Control Your Mind (Use this to Brainwash Yourself)”. It has some really great information in it! I’ve also added motivational content onto my iphone by Fearless Soul. This helps me get my mornings started. I also took a LOA/NLP course on groupon by Sharon Bolt. She had some great insight, and an inspiring story about how the Law of Attraction changed her life.

**Just in case you don’t know, NLP is basically reprogramming your way of thinking and the way you communicate with your brain. LOA is the belief that you attract the things that you think about. So, if you think about having a bad day at work, you will have a bad day at work. However, if you go in to work believing that your day will be great; then your day will be great. That’s the Law of Attraction. I learned while watching my aforementioned favorite LOA/NLP video that our brains are currently programmed to respond and react to memories. This essentially means that we spend each day living in the past. We don’t do certain things because we have a memory of something similar. We accept that we are going to have a bad day at work because we had a bad day yesterday. NLP teaches you to tell your brain something different. Don’t expect a bad day because you’ve had bad days in the past. Each day is new and you can decide what type of day you’ll have! Happiness is a choice.

The cornerstone of this lifestyle is gratitude. Take some time to look around you. There are so many things to be grateful for! My eyes are open to the beauty of this world and how blessed I really am. This is not to say that I will not strive for more- because I definitely will- but I’ve learned that success cannot be acquired without gratitude.

I’m still at the beginning stages of my journey, but it’s authentic. I feel the change on the inside and that’s exactly what I needed. I am evolving from the inside out and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me! Happiness is a choice; and I choose happy. So remember, stay grateful and be great.

Bye for now, beautiful people.
